This article outlines how to systematically perform performance verification and security hardening on protected servers in Hong Kong after completing the purchase and deployment. The process covers benchmark testing, bandwidth and concurrency pressure verification, network connectivity and routing detection, adversarial protection effect evaluation, operating system and service reinforcement, monitoring alarms and emergency drills. The purpose is to minimize hidden dangers and ensure continuous availability before going online.
First confirm that the target node is isolated from the test environment to avoid testing from interfering with production. Make benchmark measurements for CPU, memory, disk IO, and network throughput respectively. Use common tools (such as sysbench, fio, iperf3) to conduct multi-dimensional pressure sampling and record the average latency, throughput and 95/99th percentile response time under different loads. Web services should also be verified for concurrent connections and request responses to determine performance bottlenecks under actual traffic.

It is recommended to use a combination of tools for bandwidth and concurrency testing: iperf3 is used to verify TCP/UDP bandwidth limits and support multi-thread concurrency; wrk or ab (ApacheBench) is used for HTTP request concurrency performance; siege or JMeter is used for throughput and concurrency simulation of complex business scenarios. During the test, the pressure should be gradually increased, the packet loss rate, retransmission and connection establishment failure rate should be recorded to evaluate the performance of Hong Kong High Defense Server under peak conditions.
Conduct multi-point connectivity testing around Hong Kong nodes and the main business station, and use ping and traceroute (or mtr) to detect delay and path jitter; use third-party monitoring platforms (such as RIPE Atlas or domestic and foreign cloud measurement points) to initiate detections from multiple regions to verify cross-border link stability and BGP routing policies. If you have a CDN or reverse proxy, you need to also verify that the back-to-origin connection and load balancing strategy are working as expected.
Theoretical configurations and real-world attacks are often out of sync, and simulated attacks can reveal missed strategies or resource bottlenecks. Verify DDoS protection's trigger threshold, traffic cleaning capabilities, alarm accuracy and false kill rate through controlled traffic attacks (negotiate with the service provider or use supported stress testing services). The drill should cover multiple attack types such as SYN flood, UDP flood, HTTP GET/POST flood, etc. to ensure that the protective link can respond quickly in real events.
Operating system hardening includes closing unnecessary ports and services, minimizing installation packages, configuring strong passwords and SSH key logins, restricting root remote logins, and enabling sudo auditing. At the application level, it is necessary to update dependency libraries, configure security headers (such as HTTP Strict Transport Security, X-Frame-Options), enable WAF rules, and perform rule whitelist/blacklist tuning. Use vulnerability scanning tools (such as Nessus and OpenVAS) to regularly check and repair high-risk vulnerabilities.
The determination of compliance depends on both static configuration and dynamic performance: Static requirements require bandwidth, cleaning capabilities, and SLA indicators to meet business peaks; dynamic requirements require no service interruption or rapid rollback recovery during stress testing and drills. Deploy real-time monitoring (Prometheus+Grafana or cloud vendor monitoring) to collect traffic, number of connections, CPU/memory, error rate, and abnormal peak values, and combine alarm strategies (thresholds and circuit breakers) with automated scripts to achieve second-level response and rapid expansion.
Daily maintenance includes patch management, certificate updates, rule base synchronization and log archiving. Emergency drills include simulated traffic peak switching, cleaning policy misjudgment rollback, active/standby switching and business degradation processes. It is recommended to develop a runbook (operation manual) to clarify the division of roles, communication links and recovery steps, and conduct regular drills to test the executability of each node to ensure that in the event of a real attack or failure, it can be quickly handled according to the process.
